SATS results 2016 (SATs – statutory assessment tests)

2016 was the first year of the new Key Stage 2 tests in maths, reading and grammar, punctuation and spelling. Writing is assessed by teacher assessment. The tests assess children against a national standard. This year’s tests are the first tests to reflect the new primary curriculum, which was introduced in 2014. As this is the first year of the new tests, the results will look different from those of previous years and cannot be compared with them directly. The new curriculum expects children to achieve higher standards than before.

Children are no longer measured by levels but are expected to be at ‘age related expectations’ (ARE) by the end of year 6. Children are measured on a scaled score (100 being expected standard). Children achieving 110 + are considered to have a greater depth of understanding.

Lakeside has achieved higher than the national average in all areas.
